Party dresses: Black is chic!

It’s Christmas week; it’s time to get in the party mood. And it’s time to pick out the right party dress, accessories and makeup. We kick off our party series with eternal party favourites: Little Black Dresses (LBDs).

LBD with a twist

Wear your LBD in an unusual cut that will flatter your body shape.  Charles & Keith studded beltCinch it at the waist with an eye-catching belt: it could be in a pop colour or studded, or both!

Asymmetrical Dresses

Asymmetrical hemlines are fun to wear and can play peek-a-boo if you want to flaunt your toned bod. Add on some shimmer and sparkle, and you’re set to party!

LBDs: Little Black Blazers

If you like to defy convention and stay away from dresses, try a night-time blazer with interesting details like sequins or stones. Pair with super skinny dark jeans or mini skirt.

Wedding fashion: Chic embroidered jackets for sangeet

A richly-embroidered jacket for weddings has been on my wish list for a very long time now. And after thinking about it over and over again, I think it’s the right time to buy one. 🙂

Embroidered jackets look elegant and sophisticated, and are ideal for traditional gatherings such as the sangeet. I’ve seen some women wearing such jackets at weddings too.

How to wear embroidered jackets:

  • Make the exquisite jacket the focal point of your look. Wear your jacket with a simple kurta and churidar in the same or contrasting colour.
  • Or go casual with a comfortable camisole and tight pants/ knit leggings/ churidar.
  • Experiment with your silhouette by pairing your jacket with loose pants, lehenga or skirt.
  • If you’re petite, add on a pair of high heels (no wedges, please). Stilettos, pointy toes, and peep toes would bring a touch of class and grace to your look.
  • Keep the jewellery subtle and minimal (you want people to look at your jacket, right?)
  • Walk tall!

Would you like to add an embroidered jacket to your wardrobe?

For those who can’t (or won’t)wear saris at weddings for whatever reason, kalidar kurtas are the comfier, trendy and easy option. They are feminine, add grace to your gait and can create a colourful impact with shaded or alternating panels.

Handy tips to wear kalidar kurtas:

  • Kalidar kurtas are versatile: you can play with necklines, colours and embroideries.
  • Opt for longer kalidar kurtas as hemlines drop this season.
  • Team with a churidar; dupatta is optional.
